Women strengthen, heal, protect and empower families companies and communities. Let's celebrate the role women play in our lives and their contributions to health and well-being. Join us for What a Girl Wants - a fundraising event celebrating women, health and handbags! Come enjoy a gala evening including gourmet tapas, a handbag fashion show, a live and silent auction of designer handbags and other luxury items and live music.
As parents, spouses and caregivers, women play a critical role in managing and maintaining the health of their families. The liver plays a similar multi-tasking (and often unsung) role in nurturing and protecting the health of the body. Unfortunately, neither tend to get the credit they deserve! That’s why the Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF) launched ‘What a Girl Wants’ as an opportunity to highlight both the importance of liver health and of women as our health ‘guardians’.
Organized by women for women, What a Girl Wants offers an entertaining ‘girls night out’ with a purpose. All proceeds from the events go toward liver research and education to help combat the over 100 forms of liver disease that affect 1 in 10 Canadians.
While What a Girl Wants is about a little self-indulgence and a lot of fun, we also hope that everyone walks away from the evening knowing a little more about liver health. Few people realize the liver performs over 500 different functions and is a critical part of overall health. Through our LIVERight initiative, the CLF is trying to change that by demonstrating that decisions we make everyday – what to eat or drink, what activities to engage in or which medications to take – can impact our liver health positively or negatively. Through LIVERight, we want to provide positive, preventative and practical advice to help everyone optimize their liver health throughout life.
                                                               Canadian Liver Foundation

Founded in 1969 by a group of doctors and business leaders concerned about the increasing incidence of liver disease, the Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF) was the first organization in the world devoted to providing support for research and education into the causes, diagnoses, prevention and treatment of all liver disease. Throughout the Foundation's 40 year history, we have served as a model for similar organizations around the world.

Today, our focus remains virtually unchanged from those early days. Our mandate is to promote liver health and to reduce the incidence and impact of all liver disease. To achieve this goal, we work through our volunteer chapters across the country to improve public awareness and understanding of liver health and liver disease, raise funds for research and reach out to liver disease patients and their families.
